Labiaplasty Surgery in Raipur

The term labiaplasty refers to a procedure that reduces the length of the labia minora. It is the most commonly performed vaginal rejuvenation procedure and it can relieve symptoms women experience from twisting and tugging of the labia.

The goal of the procedure is to reduce the labia minora so that they don't hang below the hair-bearing labia majora. A labiaplasty may be performed to reduce asymmetry when one is longer than the other, or, more commonly, to reduce the length of both labia so that the labia no longer twist, tug or fall out of a bathing suit.

Labiaplasty, also known as lip reduction or vaginal rejuvenation, restructures the external appearance of the genitals for aesthetic reasons and to treat any functional impairment. The procedure often increases the hygiene and symmetry of the lips, increasing the comfort and confidence of patients.

Procedure details

On the day of surgery, labiaplasty patients will receive a mild sedative followed by local or general anesthesia, as recommended during the consultation.

The surgeon will make an incision in the labia majora or minora and cut the excess tissue, suturing the wound later. The surgeon then applies an anesthetic solution to the lips. The operation generally takes an hour, and after an hour or two of rest, patients can go home. Patients must arrange for someone to drive them home.

There are five different ways to perform labiaplasty surgery.

  • Edge resection: In this procedure, the doctor surgically removes excess skin from the edges of the labia minora.
  • Central Wedge Resection: This method involves cutting and removing the wedge tissue from the thicker segment of the less lips. This technique preserves the natural wrinkles of the labia minora, but has a greater margin for error than some other labiaplasty techniques.
  • De-epithelialization: This technique consists of cutting the superficial tissue of the lips less. The surgeon cuts around the middle and back of the lip tissues with a scalpel or a laser beam. This technique maintains wrinkles and lip sensations, but can increase the width of the lip.
  • Labiaplasty with detachment of the clitoris: In this technique, the clitoral hood is resected. The doctor sutures the hood into a V shape and shapes the skin to form a Y, uncovering the hood of the clitoris and tightening the tissues of the lips.
  • Laser labiaplasty : This technique combines de-epithelialization and the use of lasers instead of a scalpel. The only downside to this technique is that the laser can remove too much skin in the process.

Recovery Process

A patient can return to work as soon as four days after labiaplasty. Strenuous work should be avoided for at least a month, and sexual intercourse should be avoided for six weeks after surgery.

On the first day after the operation, the patient should stay in bed and arrange for a caregiver to take care of them. During the recovery period, the surgeon should check in periodically to see how the wound is healing and if any additional check-ups are required. If the patient menstruates during her recovery time, she should not use tampons. Restrictive clothing or thong underwear should also be avoided during recovery. Postoperative swelling usually lasts between one and four months.

Labiaplasty: what it is, how it is performed and recovery

Labiaplasty or nymphoplasty is a plastic surgery that consists of reducing the labia minora in those women who have hypertrophy in this area.

This surgery is relatively quick, lasts about 1 hour and generally the woman spends 1 night hospitalized, having the discharge the following day. Recovery is a bit uncomfortable, so it is recommended to stay home and not go to work for the first 10 to 15 days after surgery.

In labiaplasty is indicated

Labiaplasty can be performed in the following situations:

  • When the vaginal labia minora are very large;
  • They produce discomfort during sexual intercourse;
  • They cause discomfort, embarrassment, or low self-esteem.

In any case, before deciding to perform surgery, you should speak with a doctor to clarify all doubts.

How is surgery performed?

The surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia, spinal anesthesia, with or without sedation, and lasts about 40 minutes to 1 hour. During the procedure, the doctor cuts the labia minora and sutures the edges so that the scar is not visible.

The suture is done with absorbable thread, that is, the doctor does not have to return to the hospital for the doctor to remove it since the body absorbs them. However, in certain cases, the doctor may opt for common points, which must be removed after 8 days.

Generally, the woman is discharged the day after the procedure, being able to return to work and daily activities 10 to 15 days after the procedure. However, you should wait about 40 to 45 days before having sex and exercising again.

In the first week after surgery, it is not recommended to sit down, being more indicated to lie down with the legs slightly higher than the rest of the trunk to facilitate venous return, and reduce pain and swelling in the genital region.

Benefits of vaginal labia minora reduction

Labiaplasty improves the self-esteem of women who feel ashamed of their body and who feel bad about having larger than normal lips, it prevents infections because the labia minora with large volume can lead to the accumulation of urine secretions that can cause infections and because there is greater friction and wound formation.

In addition, it also improves sexual performance, since large lips can cause pain during intimate contact or distance of the woman from her partner. After the surgery, the woman feels more comfortable with all kinds of clothes, even if they are fair, since the vaginal lips will no longer be prominent to the point of discomforting lace underwear or jeans, for example.

Recovery from surgery

Post-surgical intimate region

After surgery, it is normal for the intimate area to be quite inflamed, reddened and with purple marks, being normal changes expected. The woman must rest for about 8 days, lying in bed or on the sofa with pillows, and wearing light and loose clothing.

It is also recommended to do several lymphatic drains during the day to reduce inflammation, and consequently pain, and facilitate healing and complete recovery.

When can the final result be seen?

Although recovery is not the same in all women, generally complete healing occurs around 6 months later, which is the time when healing is completely finished and the final result can be observed, however small changes can be observed day by day . Sexual contact should be postponed between 40 to 45 days after surgery, if there is formation of bridles, preventing penetration, another small correction surgery can be done.

How to carry out local hygiene?

During recovery, the vaginal area should be kept clean and dry and frozen compresses can be placed on the region, mainly in the first few days, to relieve inflammation and combat swelling. Cold compresses should be placed for 15 minutes, 3 times a day.

After urinating and defecating, the woman should always wash the area with cold water or saline, as well as apply an antiseptic solution with a clean gauze. Your doctor may recommend that you put on a layer of healing ointment or antibacterial action to avoid itching that it causes during healing, and to prevent infection. That care should be taken after each time you go to the bathroom for at least 12 to 15 days.

A soft intimate absorbent should be used, which can absorb the greatest amount of blood, without oppressing the region. Undergarments should be cotton and loose enough to feel comfortable for the first few days. It is not recommended to wear tight clothing such as leggings, tights or jeans in the first 20 days.

How to reduce pain and swelling?

The woman can take 1g of paracetamol every 8 hours to relieve pain and discomfort in the first 10 days. Or you can insert 1g of paracetamol + 600mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours.

Restrictions

Driving in the first few days after surgery is not recommended because the driver's position is uncomfortable and can cause pain and bleeding. Similarly, you should not smoke or consume alcoholic beverages up to 10 days after surgery. Know what to eat to speed up healing.

Who should not have labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is contraindicated before 18 years of age, in people suffering from uncontrolled diabetes, hypertension or heart failure. It is not recommended to perform the surgery during menstruation or close to the day of the next menstrual period, since menstrual blood can leave the region more humid, and promote infection.
