Labiaplasty Surgery in Bhopal

The term labiaplasty refers to a procedure that reduces the length of the labia minora. It is the most commonly performed vaginal rejuvenation procedure and it can relieve symptoms women experience from twisting and tugging of the labia.

The goal of the procedure is to reduce the labia minora so that they don't hang below the hair-bearing labia majora. A labiaplasty may be performed to reduce asymmetry when one is longer than the other, or, more commonly, to reduce the length of both labia so that the labia no longer twist, tug or fall out of a bathing suit.

What is labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is surgery to reduce drooping or overdeveloped labia minora (hypertrophic) in a woman's vulva.

In which cases can a woman be a candidate for labiaplasty?

The surgical intervention can be carried out in 3 main cases:

  • aesthetic discomfort: small very drooping lip
  • discomfort, pain during intercourse
  • everyday discomfort: sport, tight pants ...

What does the labiaplasty technique consist of?

The principle of the intervention is to remove the excess mucous membrane from the labia minora.

There are two methods: longitudinal or triangular labiaplasty

They all consist in removing the excess mucous membrane of the small lip.

The longitudinal method removes excess height of the lesser lip along its entire length

The triangular method involves removing a triangle from the posterior half of the lip. Thus, the appearance of the folds of the lip is preserved, and the scar is concealed at the junction of the large lip and the lesser lip. The risk for longitudinal labiaplasty is frequent suture release in 10% of cases.

We are opposed to labiaplasty by resection of a triangle in the middle of the lesser lip , which exposes the suture to frequent release.

What is the result of labiaplasty?

The result is immediate, with a correction of the excess labia minora.

The final result of the labiaplasty is obtained at 3 months, when the edema has disappeared, and the labia minora have regained their finesse and suppleness.

Is labiaplasty covered?

Labiaplasty is partially covered by social security.
The remainder is covered by your mutual, in part or in full according to the commitments of your mutual.

What is the type of anesthesia?

All modes of anesthesia: general, local, locoregional.

What are the classic post-operative consequences of labiaplasty?

  • The consequences are not very painful.
  • Hospitalization for labiaplasty is outpatient
  • The threads are absorbable.
  • After each urination, you must clean and dry the labia minora.
  • Sexual intercourse is prohibited between 4 and 6 weeks.

Cosmetic surgery on a woman's vulva has become more common since the advent of the Internet. Women see many more images of nude women than before, making them more aware of the differences in our anatomy. There has been an increase in the number of surgeries to modify private parts. The most common intervention is labioplasty (or nymphoplasty) which consists of shortening the labia minora. All parts of the body, like legs or breasts, are made up differently. And when it comes to our intimate anatomy, so is it. Some women have the inner lips hidden by the outer lips, while others have longer labia minora that protrude beyond the labia majora. This condition can be bothersome in privacy or cause discomfort during physical activities like horseback riding or biking. The goal of a labioplasty is to shorten the labia minora so that they remain hidden inside the labia majora.

Often, this condition sets in during puberty and becomes worse after pregnancy. This surgery may involve removing a triangular portion of the labia minora or removing all of the excess skin. My favorite method is triangular (or V) resection. However, each patient will be assessed individually.

Duration of surgery?
About 45 minutes.

Type of anesthesia?
Local anesthesia with or without sedation.

Recovery time?
I ask my patients to abstain from sex and to avoid putting pressure on them for three weeks after surgery.

When can I return to work?
It is day surgery and you can return to work after 2-3 days.

Postoperative pain?
Postoperative pain is minimal, but the area may be tender. Ice application is recommended for the first 48 hours.
