HYMENOPLASTY (OR RECONSTRUCTION OF THE HYMEN)
Hymenoplasty is still called virginity surgery. It is an intimate surgical operation which consists in reconstructing the patients' hymen identically torn after sexual intercourse.
This intervention is not covered by social security when it is carried out for personal convenience.
Who is hymenoplasty for?
It most often concerns patients wishing to regain their virginity before their marriage, for cultural or religious reasons.
What does hymenoplasty consist of?
The operation begins with local anesthesia (not very painful) after careful antisepsis of the operating area.
After excision of the edges of the hymenal remains, a plasty is carried out to bring the edged edges together, sutured to each other in 2 planes for better strength of the reconstruction. The threads used resolve quickly within 2 weeks.
The hymenal membrane is thus restored and closes the vagina. This closure is however not completely hermetic, because an opening is left open to allow vaginal discharge (menstruation).
The duration of the surgery is approximately 30 minutes.
How is the consultation for a reconstruction of the hymen?
After having listened to and understood your motivations for this surgery, I carry out a clinical examination in the presence of my assistant, in order to see the appearance of your hymenal remains conditioning the surgical technique to be carried out.
What are the immediate postoperative consequences and recommendations during hymenoplasty?
The operative consequences are very simple. A return home is possible after the surgery.
A periodic towel is recommended in your panties because of any residual bleeding in the first postoperative days.
Strict personal hygiene is necessary after surgery (water and mild soap).
Postoperative pain is slight or even nonexistent.
It is possible to resume your professional activity 24 to 48 hours after the surgery.
Sport is not recommended for 3 weeks.
There are no threads to remove because they resolve spontaneously in 15 days.
How long does the reconstructed hymen take to heal?
The duration of healing of the hymen is from 15 days to 1 month.
The scar is invisible between 1 and 2 months postoperatively.
When is sex possible after a hymenoplasty?
Sexual intercourse is possible from the 15th post op day. However, the reconstructed hymen will be stronger 1 month after surgery.
Bleeding is usually present during defloration after hymenoplasty.
GENERAL INFORMATION ON HYMENOPLASTY (HYMEN SURGERY)
Hymenoplasty is the procedure to reconstruct the hymen. During a first sexual intercourse, the hymen tears and the woman loses her virginity. It is now possible to perform an operation called "hymenoplasty" to reconstruct the torn hymen.
Requests for hymenoplasty are constantly increasing in cosmetic surgery. There are two cases of request for hymenoplasty:
- For personal convenience: the patient wishes a reconstruction of the hymen for personal reasons (marriage,….) It is not covered by social security.
- Following a forced sexual relationship: in this case, this intervention is covered by health insurance.
HYMENOPLASTY TECHNIQUES (HYMEN SURGERY)
The sequelae of the remaining hymen are used by incising them in their middle part and bringing them together. If the sequelae of the hymen are insufficient, a sample can be taken from the surrounding mucous membranes. The stitches are absorbable, so it is not necessary to remove them. The scar is very inconspicuous, impossible to see with the naked eye.
THE COURSE OF HYMENOPLASTY (HYMEN SURGERY)
For hymenoplasty surgery, the patient enters the morning of the intervention at the clinic and leaves the same day (outpatient surgery.)
The hymenoplasty operation can be done under local or general anesthesia depending on the patient's choice. . The intervention lasts about 30 minutes
CONVALESCENCE AFTER HYMENOPLASTY (HYMEN SURGERY)
The consequences of a hymenoplasty are simple. There is no dressing to do. A simple daily shower is necessary.
Resumption of normal activity is possible the day after surgery.
THE RESULTS OF HYMENOPLASTY (HYMEN SURGERY)
The results of a hymenoplasty are immediate. The reconstructed hymen is healed approximately 15 days after the hymenoplasty surgery. The stitches are absorbable and disappear on their own at most after about a month.
Although this is often the case, sometimes there may be no bleeding during future intercourse if there is significant fibrosis.
The scars from the operation are invisible to the naked eye and hidden inside the vagina.
HYMENOPLASTY: WHAT PRICE?
For a hymenoplasty, the price varies depending on the reason for which it is performed.
In the case of hymenoplasty for personal convenience, the intervention is considered as cosmetic surgery and the entire hymenoplasty operation is the responsibility of the patient.
In case of hymenoplasitis following sexual assault, hymenoplasty surgery is covered by Social Security.
A hymenoplasty is a procedure to reconstruct the hymen, a delicate membrane in the vagina located near its opening.
This thin film of skin often breaks during the first vaginal penetration. This rupture can be associated with minor bleeding. In addition, the hymen can be torn in several other circumstances, such as the insertion of a sanitary pad, by trauma, and even during the practice of intense sports activity.
“By discussing your needs and concerns confidentially with the surgeon, the surgeon will be able to advise you and answer your questions regarding your treatment. "
How is the surgery performed?
Two surgical approaches are possible, depending on the condition of your hymen. The first is to repair the remaining hymen with sutures. As for the other option, a hymen is recreated by partially closing the opening of the vaginal canal with shreds of vaginal mucosa. In both techniques, melting points are used and disappear within about two weeks.
Once healing is complete, no signs of surgery are usually visible.
